Award win buoys physiotherapy team into rapid expansion

The reinvigoration that came from winning “Best Small Business” has helped Support & Sustain go from a period of low demand during the pandemic to record patient numbers, more staff and premises’ expansion.

Managing director of the physiotherapy company, Ross Farmer, reflected on the boom in business since winning the title just over six months ago.

He said: “The award came at a time where we were seeing a fraction of our usual demand. Since then, the confidence has come back to the market and we are treating more people than ever. It has been a welcome surprise and we have increased our team from 7 to 10. We are also starting building work to create two additional treatment spaces and are updating our viability on the high street. It has been a period of real change and development.

“It was brilliant to have something positive to focus on and re-energise us. Being able to display the award, add it to our email signatures and post about it on social media was a great catalyst for getting energy back into the way we engage with our clients/patients. It also buoyed the team and highlighted the value we offer even when times have been really tough and when connecting with patients has been so much harder with face masks. We now have our usual energy levels back and are back to our continuous drive for improvement.”

Ross also described how entering the Awards provided an opportunity for a business audit, saying: “It was great to complete the process and really look at what value we offer, where our strengths lay but also seeing what others are doing and how they have been adapting/innovating. Of course, winning had so many benefits too!!”
