25 Aug Alumno providing Southwark students with superb-quality accommodation
Alumno has submitted its Rockingham Street student accommodation project to Southwark Council for planning approval.
The high-quality accommodation for 250 students will have an active ground floor that positively contributes to the local area.
The ground floor will include a new section of The Low Line – the new walking destination for London along Victorian rail viaducts – flanked by new uses such as a café to bring activity.
Secure cycle storage will be provided for residents and the development will be car free. The site is a triangle of land at the junction of Rockingham and Tiverton Streets and includes three of the adjacent railway viaduct arches.
Alumo is anticipating the application being heard by planning committee towards the end of this year.
Also, Alumno’s scheme at Bermondsey Spa Gardens will be opening in September.
It will house 143 students and was designed by Greenaway Architects, funded by Barings Bank and built by HG construction.
It offers fantastic student accommodation along with communal areas including a basement cinema lounge.
