Alumno proud to support Theatre Peckham with Young and Gifted Black Season

Southwark Business Excellence Awards sponsor, Alumno, has been supporting Award winner, Theatre Peckham, with its Young and Gifted Black Season.

Theatre Peckham won this year’s Outstanding Team category in the Southwark Business Excellence Awards and in 2021, they scooped COVID-19 Business Commitment To Education, Training & Skills.

The Theatre serves South London’s young people from age three to 18 with courses and classes in voice, dance and drama. Working within the local community, the theatre seeks to play its part in readdressing the continued lack of diversity in the creative industries.

Its five-week Young and Gifted Black Season, running throughout October and November unapologetically celebrates people from the African diaspora through a variety of artforms.

In 2016 the theatre moved into its current home in Havil Street – complete with a 200-seat theatre, two studio spaces and office space. The new building was funded by Southwark Council and Alumno as part of its redevelopment of the old Southwark Town Hall.

Alumno said: “It is fantastic to be able to support Theatre Peckham again following the redevelopment by Alumno of their building which was completed in 2017.

“The Theatre was transformed from a small single space with little rehearsal room and basic facilities into a state of the art theatre with equipment the West End would envy ! Alumno are very proud to support their Musical Theatre Night on 20 October which is part of the Young Gifted and Black Season.”
