02 Sep Southwark Business Awards to be held virtually this November
There is still time for businesses to enter this year’s Southwark Business Excellence Awards, in association with London South Bank University – which takes place virtually on Wednesday 25 November.
With a new entry deadline of 5pm Friday, 25 September, businesses have a chance to celebrate their achievements over the past 12 months, and share their stories of resilience during the coronavirus pandemic.
And in Southwark, despite the challenges many have faced as a result of the pandemic, more than 100 businesses have entered themselves to win an award – highlighting the entrepreneurial nature and will to succeed across many of the borough’s businesses.
Many businesses have been affected by the pandemic, but have overcome adversity through adapting to new laws and guidelines, enabling them to be flexible, adaptive and resilient, in order to serve their customers and benefit the wider Southwark community.
And on 25 November, business achievements and resilience will be recognised virtually, as the awards ceremony looks back on the past year, sharing stories from those nominated and giving employers and employees the opportunity to celebrate their successes with others across the borough.
You can enter, for free, in up to three of the 11 categories, including Apprentice Employer of the Year and Southwark Cultural Commitment Award, all of which will be awarded across the night. The final award of the night, Business of the Year, will be awarded to one of the 11 winners. All of the categories can be viewed here.
This year the judging process has been simplified, with finalists announced on Tuesday, 29 September, with a deadline for second round submissions of Friday, 16 October. The traditional judging day will now be taking place, virtually, over the course of a week – 9-12 November.
Katharine Glass, director of White Label, who run the annual awards, said: “We’ve seen some incredible resilience from Southwark businesses over the past few months. They’ve played a massive part in keeping the borough’s economy alive, and the Southwark Business Excellence Awards is a perfect way to celebrate all of the hard work employers and employees have put in over the past year in quite exceptional circumstances.
“There’s still time to enter – so get your entry in now and make sure you are part of what is sure to be a special evening!”
